No shocker, its Joanna Gaines new cooking show, Magnolia Table. I just want to start off by saying, this kitchen is incredible. I love every single thing about it. The design style reminds me of designer Leanne Ford. When we move and I renovate, this is the kitchen I want. I would open my kitchen windows and singing birds would come in and help me cook. Yep, that’s what I envision with a kitchen this beautiful.

How To: DIY Painted Waves Wall Mural

qZEAJyhM-980x653.jpeg

On Season 2, Episode 5 “From Beige to Beautiful,” of HGTV.s Hidden Potential I joined Jasmin Roth in creating this awesome Painted Waves Wall Mural for the homeowners.  The home’s design leans Scandinavian with lots of neutral tones throughout, so this mural was the perfect way to infuse the space with some movement and color.  It’s totally custom, totally cool and feels really fresh and modern.

What You’ll Need:

Step 1:

Tape off the edges of your wall with painters tape so the mural doesn’t bleed over onto your other walls.  Lay your drop cloth down right at the edge of your wall on the floor so you don’t drip paint everywhere and make a mess.

Step 2:

Dilute the paint.  Take some of your paint and pour it into a container.  Dilute the paint with water until the liquid is thin and resembles the same consistency as water.  Mix well.

Step 3:

Wet your entire wall with a spray bottle filled with water.  The wall should be shiny from the moisture, but not dripping wet.

Step 4:

Dip your painting mitt into your diluted paint.  Start swirling your mitt around on the wall to create a wave-like effect.  We made our mural fade from dark to light across the wall to really drive home the wave effect.  This can be achieved by swirling more coats on one side of the wall, using a heavier hand with the paint mixture, and using less and less paint as you cross the wall.  This will give it an ombre look.  You can recreate the same look we did, or try your own pattern!  Have fun with it!

How to: Faux Candy Apple

I am so excited about these faux candy apples. I just saw them from my friend Heathers instagram. She is so darn creative and an absolute queen of halloween. Halloween DIY’s are definitely my favorite too. This halloween decor DIY is actually very simple. River helped me make them… and they look so dang cute everyone will be like OMG!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

STEP 1:

Mix about 15 drops of red food coloring into 3oz of Mod Podge. Its going to look pink.

STEP 2:

Take the apples and dip them into the bowl of Mod Podge. You are going to want to roll it around on all sides.

STEP 3:

Place all the apples onto a piece of wax paper and just wait. it should all dry within 10 hours. Don’t touch it.. just leave it alone. haha

STEP 4:

Remove the little faux stems that are ordingially on the apples and stick your real twig stems into the apple. Be sure to get longer twigs and leave some of the leaves on them. Waaaa Laa!
